Recently Victor Conte, the founder of BALCO, shared his thoughts about testing program of anti-doping agencies and the current state of doping among sportspersons.
Victor Conte has noticed that it is unlikely that the 2012 Olympic Games would be free from intake of steroids and other banned drugs. The founder of BALCO said in an interview that Olympic anti-doping testing system had various defects. Thus, steroid users were also chosen to compete at the Olympic Games.
Conte doesn’t believe that administration of forbidden medications has decreased. He doesn’t agree with individuals that affirm that low performance in various sports is a proof that steroids and other related drugs are almost excluded from sports.
The founder of BALCO claims that steroids are widely used now too. Efforts of anti-doping agencies led to adoption of sportspersons. Thus, athletes don’t utilize as enhanced dosages as have been utilized before. Nonetheless, intake of steroids and other prohibited drugs remains to be a problem.
The founder of BALCO is sure that sportspeople don’t use such designer steroids, as THG. Instead of administering such drugs, sportspersons take the steroid testosterone which is considered to be the grandfather of all steroids. Conte adds that since testosterone is fast-acting and it is available in form of creams, gels, patches and injections, it is widely used by athletes. Moreover, not very high doses of testosterone are needed in order to cause great effects. This steroid is widespread among professional baseball players.
Conte criticizes anti-doping system. He affirms that anti-doping agencies have essential ambiguities. Even a truck may go through loopholes that are in doping laws, according to the founder of BALCO.
